Fans have been anxiously awaiting news of the opening of Jensen and family’s brewpub this year since the news was shared of this venture early this year in February. Thanks to a recent interview with general-manager and Jensen’s brother-in-law, Gino Graul, we now have some more information on what the brewery will include and an update on when the brewery will open!

AUSTIN – If you’re a fan of Austin’s craft beer scene, you know there are more breweries popping up than ever before.

And one of the newest is being built by ‘Supernatural’ star, Texas native, and Austin resident, Jensen Ackles. He and his family are opening up a brewpub in Dripping Springs near Hamilton Pool.

It’s called Family Business Beer Company, it includes Ackles’ wife and brother-in-law, Gino Graul.

“We’ve always kind of loved craft beer and been able to kind of bond,” General Manager Gino Graul said.

For the co-owner, quality family time is best spent over a few drinks.

“It probably originated about five years ago with myself, my brother-in-law and my sister. We were just doing some backyard BBQ,” he said.

Their passion for experimenting with different beers transformed into a hobby.

“And then a mild obsession, and then eventually we started to put together a business plan,” Graul added.

Making the move near Hamilton Pool was strategic for the family.

“With gorgeous oak groves in the hill country, it’s something that we kind of wanted to tie those two together,” he said.

The business is still in the beginning phases with two 15 barrel fermenters, and three 30 barrel fermenters to start.

However, Austinites are already eager to snag a seat at the bar. The Family Beer Business Company Instagram feed has nearly 50,000 followers, and comments are flooding their Facebook page.

“The response from everybody online and in person seems to be really welcoming and warming,” Graul said. “People are excited and looking forward to it.”

And the fanbase may only get bigger from here because last month Ackles was featured on Conan O’Brien, offering their new craft beer on the show. The CW star brought in their first keg and presented it on stage to ‘Supernatural’ co-star Jared Padalecki.

From blonde ales, stouts and porters to barrel aged beers, there’s something for everyone. The owners believe variety is key, especially when it comes to the crowd.

“We wanted to make sure we made it family-friendly, kid-friendly, dog-friendly,” Graul said.

That means a playscape for the kiddos, picnic tables, snow cones, and live music.

“We appreciate what the Austin beer scene has done for Texas and for beer in general, and we wanted to be a part of that,” he added.

He and his partners hope the Dripping Springs brewpub will be another destination for Austinites and travelers.

Family Business Beer Company plans to launch this October. KVUE plans to attend the grand opening.

In their interview with EW both Jensen and Jared talked about the series end which could possibly be when (and if) the show reaches its 300th episode;

But the key to living such a long life — besides coming back from the dead, of course — is never looking too far down the line. For Ackles and Padalecki, their focus is on the next milestone: hitting 300 episodes. “In a marathon, I keep my sights on that next mile, wherever that might be,” Ackles says. “And 300’s a good number to work for.”

Episode 300 would take the show 13 episodes into season 14, or all the way through season 14 if they did a shortened season, something Ackles and executive producer Bob Singer have talked about as a potential option. “We talked about wanting to be able to know when our end was, and if it was to be, let’s say, 300 episodes, we could tell a 13-episode story,” Singer says. “I think it would be bad for this show to just ride off in the sunset without a finale. I think we’ve earned that. I don’t know what that finale is, but we’d certainly like to do one.”

However, Ackles and Padalecki don’t want to get too ahead of themselves. If Sam and Dean have taught them anything, it’s that Death can be lurking around every corner (and he’s usually eating pizza). “If we don’t make it to 300, I think Ackles and I will both be truly bummed,” Padalecki says. “When we get to 300, I think Ackles and I will think it might be time to say bye. There’s a chance that changes, but we certainly do not take it for granted that we’re going to make it to 300.”
